For 2011, the Subaru Outback will feature WiFi as a dealer installed option. This move follows similar offerings from Ford, General Motors, Chrysler, and even Avis.
The connection will be an encrypted 3G network and is usable for up to 150 feet around the vehicle. To subscribing to the WiFi connection will cost $29 per month, but the first three months are free courtesy of Subaru.
“The Subaru Outback redefined the SUV, and offering Wi-Fi connectivity further expands this versatile vehicle’s capability,” Subaru said in a statement.
The technology is provided by Autonet Mobile, which pioneered in-car Internet service. Aside from the monthly service charge, buyers will need to spend $499 for the installed and $35 for the activation fee.
